In this pilot project the risk of fatal injuries and personal injuries in different transport modes are calculated on the basis of existing data. These calculations are made difficult because definitions of injuries and travels are different in different modes. The possibilities of reduction of transportation accidents by moving traffic from high-risk to low-risk modes are discussed. The working paper is concluded by proposals for further work.
