This volume of the Light Helicopter Family (LHX) Trade-Off Analysis (TOA) is a report of the training analysis. The training analysis was performed in order to provide input to other LHX TOA study areas in order to perform necessary trade-offs and in order to perform trade-offs among various training systems. The training analysis had the following findings/conclusions: (1) Single-seat LHX-SCAT aviator training cost will exceed two-seat training cost; (2) SCAT aviator training cost will exceed Utility aviator training cost; (3) Standardized computer language will result in device cost savings. (4) Embedded training will enhance unit training; (5) A two-place trainer for the SCAT should be fielded if a single-pilot aircraft is selected; (6) A combat mission-type simulator is necessary; (7) Collective training is vital for both aircrews and maintenance personnel; (8) The training system should be fielded as early as possible.
