Visibility distances to retroreflectors were registered in full-scale simulations of opposing situations between two motor vehicles at night. Independent variables were the CIL value of the retroreflector, its area, and the light intensity from an opposing vehicle. The relative importance of these independent variables to the visibility distance was determined.
