The idea of developing an 'intermodal passenger facility' in a rural or developing area may seem questionable, especially for those of us more accustomed to transit service being primarily associated with city life conditions. In some ways, however, the concept may be even more germane to low density areas, especially when considering how much more difficult mobility can be in the Countryside than in the City. When the added disadvantages faced every day by the elderly and disabled are considered one could argue that such facilities should in fact be prioritized for rural and low density areas. This Manual and Workshop review a sequence of steps, methods and technical analyses which can be used by persons responsible for attempting to develop an inter modal passenger facility in rural or developing areas.
