The parameters and specifications of the Command Destruct Transmitting Systems specified in this document have been compiled to provide the ranges, range users, and other agencies a descriptive guideline to the availability and usage of these systems. The systems described can be used for other operational support but this document describes their usage as pertains only to Missile Flight Safety. The intent is to assist airborne system designers to select airborne receivers that will constitute a compatible link for reception and decoding of radio signals transmitted by the Command Destruct Transmitters. The values stated are applicable to Command Destruct Transmitting Systems used at all National Ranges. Variations and improvements of some characteristics are usually due to minor and local modifications. Two types of transmitters are employed by the National Ranges to provide a primary method of flight termination in the interest of Missile Flight Safety. Air Force Eastern Range, Air Force Western Test Range, and Pacific Missile Range use the AN/FRW-2 transmitters exclusively; White Sands Missile Range utilizes the AN/FRW-2 and the URW-15 transmitters.
