Das RTRI (Railway Technical Research Institute, Tokio) hat ein kombiniertes biologisches und physikalisch-chemisches Verfahren zum Abbau von PCB (polychlorierte Biphenyle) entwickelt, welches vom Gesundheitsministerium als autorisierte Methode anerkannt wurde. In einer Pilotanlage wurden 99,9999 % des Schadstoffes in 9 Tagen eliminiert. Eine Anlage im industriellen Maßstab ist geplant. Im Beitrag wird das Abbauverfahren vorgestellt.
