Shock phenomena on a trawler, sailing in rough head seas, are described. An explanation of these shocks is attempted by means of a theory on wedges in the process of being immersed.
The values of acceleration peak magnitudes, measured on board by means of an accelerometer in the foreship, are compared with the results of theoretical calculations.
