European Directives and changes within the United Kingdom are driving major changes in the way that safety is regulated on Britain's railways. The presentation identifies the key legislation, the changes to the framework of regulation, including the merger of HMRI with ORR, the setting up of RAIB and the setting up of the European Rail Agency, and the consequences of these changes for the UK railway industry.
