A method for manufacturing single polarisation fibre DFB lasers is proposed. The method is based on UV post-processing, exploiting the UV induced birefringence to shift the resonant dips of two polarisations to different positions in their respective reflection spectra. The method is successfully demonstrated on an Er3+ fibre DFB laser.
