The delivery of real time information to traffic managers and users increasingly forms an essential part of maintaining a high quality road network. The National Assembly for Wales has employed intelligent transport systems to provide this information platform enabling proactive management of traffic on the national road network of Wales. Operation of these intelligent transport systems is focussed on two strategic management centres established to service North and South Wales respectively. Whilst activities within each are similar their management strategies have evolved so as to service the particular demands of travellers in their region. MANTAIS CYMRU has successfully integrated the intelligent transport systems at its disposal. Continuous performance assessment and procedural detail has helped maintain the quality of the service provided.
