Reuse of architectures is needed both for economic reasons as well as for faster turnaround times. For the past two years, we have been working in the area of reuse of architectures to support Health Usage and Monitoring Systems, especially for avionics systems. Our primary concern in this regard has been the development of techniques to select the right granularity for architectural modules so the reuse is maximized. For example, smaller the modules that are stored, greater is the potential for their reuse. However, smaller the reuse module, greater is the cost of integrating the modules. In this paper, we provide a survey of reuse techniques that could be used for reuse of Health Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) architectures.
