Summary form only given. Bulk CdTe has interesting optical properties around /spl lambda/=1.5 /spl mu/m, namely efficient photorefractivity and high electro-optic coefficient. The aim of this communication is to demonstrate that the activation time can be limited to the nanosecond range and long term polarization effects can be avoided by the use of a CdZnTe crystals as electro-optic material. The experiments were carried out with high resistivity, AM-cut CdZnTe single crystals.
