The design of high-speed modulator requires to model, analyze and optimize not only the electro-optic interaction, but also the distributed microwave part of the device. Parasitic effects induced by package and transitions can completely mask the intrinsic device behaviour, leading to unacceptably poor input matching and electro-optic frequency response To account for such effects, we propose an integrated CAD model of the whole device within a microwave design environment.
