In this paper output-feedback optimal predictive control based on constrained linear programming and 1-norm is studied. In particular, several practical observations regarding performance and robustness of such control systems are considered. Through these assessments, a series of modifications to the original control scheme are proposed. The resulting control scheme is able to achieve satisfactory responses even in highly perturbed scenarios on which, usually predictive controllers fail to present acceptable responses. Finally, the control scheme is tested in a real time process with satisfactory results.
