Crystalline Ge nanopartilces were aligned periodically in Ge-B-SiO2waveguides. The periodic alignment structure, which was induced by irradiation with excimer laser pulses and successive annealing, served as thermally stabilized Bragg gratings with high diffraction efficiencies.
