Summary form only given. Dense WDM (DWDM) technology with a small channel spacing of 0.8 nm or less plays an important role. There is a requirement for high-performance DWDM multiplexers and demultiplexers for the available flat gain wavelength range of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). In this paper, we report DWDM devices with a channel spacing of 0.4 nm by using apodized fiber Bragg grating (FBGs) and bandpass WDM filters (BWDM).
