A DC breaker/fault simulator platform was constructed and employed to test the H-Type DC breaker concept to moderate power levels. Successful breaking of MVDC power by the H-breaker circuit was demonstrated to 300A with conduction of continuous currents to 20A and some test voltages to 850 V. The H-breaker circuit is comprised of scalable passive components and an SCR (thyristor) switch. Component values were chosen to be compatible with moderate power levels. Reliable breaking action was demonstrated to occur within very rapid times scales under 10 microsecond.
