Autonomous vehicles have become a hot topic worldwide, while engaging with drivers, they can recognize the scene, plan the path, and regulate the motion. However, there are still issues with ensuring performance and safety in all driving situations. Two of the most critical control systems, cruise control and lane - changing control, are being developed for use in self-driving vehicles. To contribute to the development of self-driving cars, the two control systems in this study were designed using PID control theory, and their responses to disturbances in different driving situations were evaluated using Simulink. In general, they are capable of meeting control requirements even in the presence of minor disturbances. It could still be improved when the vehicle is in an emergency situation or serious disturbance.
