With the rapid economic development, inland navigation plays a vital role in the regional economy. Hence, more and more ships navigate in the Yangtze River, the longest inland river in China. This paper analyzes the current situation of navigation of the Three Gorge water area. Based on the statistics analysis of the traffic flow feature of the area, the model of the behavior of ships sailing across the lock is developed. By modifying the inputs the model functions well and matches the real environments to a significant extent. The research findings would provide some references for decision makers.
