Summary form only given. Arrays of microchip solid-state lasers are linearly scalable to higher total output energies without suffering from thermal distortion under high power pumping. Furthermore, when those single-element lasers are coherently combined, one can obtain a brighter far-field spot. We experimentally demonstrated to laterally couple microchip lasers in a one-dimensional array with a three-mirror cavity utilizing the Talbot effect, in which the images of periodic object are formed at certain distances away from the object plane by diffraction. In our experiments, a 808 nm multi-emitter LD-bar is used as a pump source of a 1064 nm Nd:YAG microchip laser array.
