To take full advantage of HTS cables in achieving efficiency, stability, and resiliency of future electric ships and aircraft, two different cable design concepts are explored. A radial architecture was investigated and reported to support HTS cable networks as a better alternative. The architecture better supports the variable current capability to mitigate contingencies of failure of some cable routes. The resiliency is achieved without adding to the size and weight of the system. It was concluded that the cryogenic system architecture has to be designed to support the electrical architecture to ensure the whole system to be efficient and power-dense.
