An enhanced fractal image coding based on quadtree partition is presented in this paper. It has the lowest bit rate as well as the highest quality in comparison with other existing schemes. Also, it can obtain higher compression ratio and needs less computation encoding time with minimal loss in PSNR compared with the fixed size partition scheme. Since fractal image modeling is resolution independent, it can lead to significant improvement. Our results show superior performance from the point of view of compression ratio and coding time.
