It is easy to lose vehicle lateral stability as a vehicle is braking on a separating road, or at the other extreme conditions. To improve a vehicle lateral stability with the urgently high-speed braking on a separated road, a controller is built based on an adaptive fuzzy PID method. A vehicle model of two freedom degree is chosen to analyze the vehicle braking performance. The fuzzy control rules and the control strategies of the adaptive PID controller are proposed. Finally, the PID controller is verified based on the vehicle model from the software of CarSim. The vehicle simulation data of the vehicle yaw angular velocity and the vehicle body roll angle, etc. with the adaptive fuzzy PID controller are used to analyze the vehicle lateral stability. The results show that the fuzzy PID controller optimize the vehicle lateral stability at the urgently high-speed braking on the separated road.
