Station keeping is a promising way to increase capacity of the air navigation system in the near future. The delegation of responsibilities from the controller to the crew has important consequences for the flight deck human machine interface. This paper presents the first stage of research conducted at Delft University of Technology in co-operation with the EUROCONTROL Experimental Center concerning the design of a CDTI for longitudinal station keeping tasks.
