The present invention relates to a video recorder with improved visibility and a video processing method thereof. A video recorder with improved visibility according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a camera unit recording videos of ambient environments around a vehicle and acquiring video data; a filtering unit filtering data of the videos recorded by the camera to adjust the brightness of the video data; a controller detecting objects based on characteristics and brightness preset in the video data and controlling the filtering unit to filter the objects; and a storing unit storing the video data acquired by the camera unit. Accordingly, the camera unit is capable of acquiring the video data with relatively uniform brightness through filtering lowering the brightness of the objects with a light source in the ambient environment so that the video data with excellent visibility may be provided. Therefore, the present invention is capable of accurately and easily acquiring information of license plates, signboards and the like by acquiring the video data.
