To provide an intake system for an internal combustion engine capable of improving the filling efficiency of the internal combustion engine by lowering an intake temperature, and of improving the output performance and fuel economy of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In viewing an intake duct 11 of an intake system 10 from above an engine 2, the intake duct 11 has a U-shaped passage 11A consisting of an upstream duct part 11c extending to the rear side further than an intake port 11a, a reversed duct part 11d reversed frontward from the upstream duct part 11c, and a downstream duct part 11e extending frontward from the reversed duct part 11d. On the lower part of a space 26 encircled by the inner peripheral face of the U-shaped passage 11A, a connection plate 25 is provided for connecting the upstream duct part 11c and the downstream duct part 11e to each other. A rear end 25r of the connection plate 25 is located below a lower part 11u of the reversed duct part 11d so that travel wind W taken from the front of a vehicle 1 is guided from the connection plate 25 through between the connection plate 25 and the reversed duct part 11d to the intake manifold 15 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
