PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a wheelchair user to operate brakes with a less force than conventionally.SOLUTION: A brake for a wheelchair includes: an operation lever 30; a tire pressing member 32 that has a pressurization part 32A for pressurizing tires 18; a connection arm 34 in which the pressurization part 32A makes contact with and recedes from the tires 18 by displacement of pins 50 connecting the first arm 34A and the second arm; a revolution body 36 which is freely rotatably supported on the pins 50; an engaging part 38 which is formed in the tip end of the operation lever; and energizing means 40 which energizes the pressurization part 32A in a direction receding from the tires 18. Assuming A is a distance from an effort point X of a lever that holds the operation lever 30 to the center of the pin 42 that becomes a fulcrum P of the lever, and assuming B is a distance from the fulcrum P of the lever to the center of the revolution body 36 that is an action point Q of the lever, the shape of the engaging part 38 is formed so that a lever ratio B/A diminishes as the operation lever 30 is rotated in the direction of braking operation.

    【課題】車いす使用者は従来よりも小さな力でブレーキ操作を行うことができる。【解決手段】操作レバー30と、タイヤ18を押圧する押圧部32Aを有するタイヤ押さえ部材32と、第1アーム34Aと第2アームとを連結するピン50の位置が変わることによって押圧部32Aがタイヤ18に対して離接する連結アーム34と、ピン50に回動自在に支持された回転体36と、操作レバーの先端部に形成された係合部38と、押圧部32Aをタイヤ18から離間する方向に付勢する付勢手段40と、を備え、係合部38の形状はha操作レバー30を握る梃子の力点Xから梃子の支点Pとなるピン42の中心までの距離をAとし、梃子の支点Pから梃子の作用点Qとなる回転体36の中心50までの距離をBとしたときに、操作レバー30をブレーキ操作方向に回動させるにしたがって梃子比B/Aが小さくなるように形成されている。【選択図】図2
