PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect other vehicle in an adjacent traffic lane without being affected by other vehicle in a traffic lane at two adjacent traffic lanes from a current traffic lane.SOLUTION: A lane marker detection unit 80 is configured to detect at least lane markers L2 and L3 indicative of a boundary of an adjacent traffic lane 22 from an image I photographed by a rear camera 50 (imaging unit), and a window setting unit 84 is configured to set windows Ai and Bi(i=1, 2, ...) different in a distance from a vehicle 10 at a location crossing the lane markers L2 and L3, respectively. When an area determination unit 88 determines that a head light of other vehicle 14 travelling in a second traffic lane 24 adjacent to a distant side of the adjacent traffic lanes 22 when viewing from a vehicle 10 are reflected at a location crossing the lane L3 on a distant side from the vehicle 10 on the basis of luminance evaluation values EV(Ai) and EV(Bi) of the image I corresponding to each of windows Ai and Bi calculated by a luminance distribution calculation unit 85, an approaching vehicle detection unit 92 is configured to not detect other vehicle 12 travelling in the adjacent traffic lane 22 over a nullification time Tn (prescribed time).

    【課題】2本隣の車線の他車両の影響を受けずに、隣接車線の他車両を検出する。【解決手段】リアカメラ50(撮像部)で撮像した画像Iの中から、レーンマーカ検出部80が、少なくとも隣接車線22の境界を示すレーンマーカL2,L3を検出して、ウインドウ設定部84が、レーンマーカL2,L3を横切る位置に、車両10から距離が異なるウインドウAi,Bi(i=1,2,…)をそれぞれ設定し、輝度分布算出部85が算出した各ウインドウAi,Biに対応する画像Iの輝度評価値EV(Ai),EV(Bi)に基づいて、領域判定部88が、車両10から遠方側のレーンマーカL3を横切る位置に、車両10から見て隣接車線22の遠方側に隣接する2本隣の車線24を走行する他車両14の前照灯が映り込んでいると判定したときには、接近車両検出部92が、隣接車線22を走行している他車両12を無効化時間Tn(所定時間)に亘って検出しない。【選択図】図3
