A subsea cutting assembly with arms 30a, 30b connected to a frame 10 by a pivot 15, the arms pivotally transform between open and closed configurations and can receive a subsea structure between the arms, and subsequently close around it, the arms have first 31a,b and second portions 32a,b, each having an inner 34a,b and outer 35a,b face, the inner faces of the first portions of the arms are parallel to each other when the arms are closed, and the inner faces of the second portions are planar and disposed at 90 degrees or less relative to the inner faces of the first portions, and a blade 60 that moves with respect to the frame and cuts the subsea structure as it is held by the arms. The arms may be ram actuated and the second portion of one of the arms may form an anvil 37.
