The method comprises the steps of: dividing the component (2) to be produced into a network of polyhedra (4) with polyhedral edges (4), which are connected to one another at their polyhedral nodes (8), in order to form the network; supplying a semifinished-product supply device (26), which supplies the semifinished product (7); supplying a feeding/guiding device (6) for feeding the semifinished product (7) from the semifinished-product supply device (26) and positioning the semifinished product (7); supplying a cutting-and-welding device (16) or a welding device for welding and a cutting device for cutting off the semifinished product (7); feeding the semifinished product (7) by means of the feeding device (6); building up the network of polyhedra (4) by positioning the fed semifinished product (7) in the position of the polyhedral edge (5) to be formed at the respectively assigned polyhedral node (8) of the network of polyhedra (4); and fastening the semifinished product (7) at the polyhedral node by welding.
