The invention relates to a critical scene extraction system in a lightweight vehicle. Various aspects of methods, systems, and cases for identifying and extracting critical scenarios from vehicle operation are described. In an example, a method for lightweight analysis and detection includes capturing data from a sensor associated with a vehicle (e.g., located within or integrated into the vehicle); detecting the occurrence of a critical scene; in response to detecting the occurrence of the critical scene, extracting data from the sensor; and outputting the extracted data. The critical scenario may be specifically detected based on a comparison of operation of the vehicle to at least one requirement specified by the vehicle operational safety model. Reconstruction and further data processing may be performed on the extracted data, such as in a manner that creates a simulation from the extracted data delivered to a remote service.
