The invention relates to a lifting support structure for hoisting a large rail type gantry crane and an installation method.The lifting support structure comprises expanded foundations, steel pipe stand column piers, column top cross beams, a main beam, continuous jacks, cable ropes, steel strands and ground anchors, and the multiple expanded foundations are located at the bottom ends of the multiple steel pipe stand column piers; the top ends of the steel pipe stand column piers are horizontally connected with the column top cross beams, the upper ends of the column top cross beams are horizontally connected with the main beams in a crossed mode, the continuous jacks are installed in the centers of the main beams, one ends of the cable ropes are connected with the column top cross beams and the main beams, and the other ends of the cable ropes are connected with the ground anchors. According to the invention, a lifting bracket structure is adopted, so that the difficulty in mounting rigid supporting legs of a rail type gantry crane and a gantry crane with the weight of 4000 t is solved; the cable rope and the ground anchor are connected through the continuous jack, the tension force of the cable rope can be accurately adjusted, and the anti-overturning capacity of the lifting support structure is effectively controlled.
