The invention relates to a structural assembly (202) for an aircraft, having: a plurality of pairs of main frames (204a-b) distributed in a longitudinal direction (X); two transverse panels fixed to the front and rear portions of the plurality of pairs of main frames (204a-b) to collectively define a compartment (50) for the landing gear of the aircraft; at least one pair of secondary frames (208a-b) between the main frames (204a-b); at least one cross member (206) parallel to the transverse panel and straddling at least one secondary chassis (208a-b); and, for each sub-frame (208a-b) and each cross member (206) straddling the sub-frame (208a-b), a connecting rod (216b-c) mounted so as to be freely rotatable on a lower portion of the cross member (206) through a first end and to be freely rotatable on an outer lateral portion of the sub-frame (208a-b) through a second end, for each sub-frame (208a-b) and each cross member (206) straddling the sub-frame (208a-b). Such an arrangement reduces the vertical volume of the structural assembly. The invention relates to an aircraft comprising the structural assembly.
