The invention relates to a magnet assembly for an electromechanical actuator of an elevator system having an encapsulated switch, and specifically describes a magnet assembly for an electromechanical assembly of an elevator system. The magnet assembly includes: a magnet; at least one rail engaging block; and an encapsulation body encapsulating the magnet and the at least one rail joint block, in which the encapsulation body is formed of a non-magnetic material. A target extension is formed from a material of the package and extends away from the magnet and the at least one rail bond block. The proximity switch target is held within the target extension for detection by the proximity switch.
