A vehicle body rear structure (1) according to an embodiment includes a rear floor panel (2, 3) formed of a steel plate having a tensile strength of 440 MPa or more, the rear floor panel (2, 3) having ribs (13, 23) extending in a predetermined direction throughout the entire surface, and the direction in which the ribs (13, 23) extend and the type of the ribs (13, 23) are set so as to reduce the difference between a peak load and an average load during a collision.
