A continuously variable transmission comprises an inner cover having a plurality of bosses around the outer circumference; an outer cover having a plurality of bosses around its outer perimeter, wherein the bosses on the outer cover are aligned with the bosses on the inner cover; and a fastener. The fastener extends by a plurality of bosses on the inner cover and a plurality of bosses on the outer cover to retain the outer cover to the inner cover. The continuously variable transmission is characterized by the fastener, the fastener has a retaining part, when the fastener is removed from the boss on the inner cover, the retaining part retains the fastener within a boss on the outer cover.
