The invention relates to the field of combustion science, proposes that propane can be used as a fire retardant for airship buoyancy lift gas, proposes that the mixing amount is 2-5%, and in the range, hydrogen and propane are mixed to serve as airship buoyancy lift gas, so the combustible range is remarkably reduced, and safety is greatly improved; density of the mixed gas as the buoyancy gas is equal to or even smaller than that of helium, and the range enables safety and buoyancy of hydrogen to reach the optimal balance effect.
