The invention discloses a counterweight system. The counterweight system comprises a counterweight guide rail and a counterweight device, wherein the counterweight device comprises a counterweight frame, a counterweight wheel and a counterweight block; the counterweight frame comprises two straight beams, two upper beams fixed at the tops of the two straight beams and lower beams fixed at the bottoms of the two straight beams; the counterweight system further comprises two sets of sensing devices; the sensing devices are triggered when the counterweight device is located in a specified interval, and output corresponding position signals; two ends of a wheel shaft of the counterweight wheel are respectively mounted at the bottoms of the corresponding upper beams through hanging brackets; the upper half portion of the counterweight wheel is positioned between the two upper beams; a first limiting beam adjacent to two opposite sides of the counterweight wheel is fixed between the two upper beams in the length direction of the upper beams; and the counterweight block is positioned in a first overlapping area and a second overlapping area. Compared with the prior art, the counterweightsystem has the advantages that it prompts that a buffer gap is not accordant with the specification as long as any one of the two sensing devices is not triggered, whether the counterweight buffer gapis abnormal or not is judged timely and accurately, and the elevator safety is improved.
