The invention relates to a vehicle violation behavior detection method for an expressway. The method comprises the following steps: calibrating monitoring cameras in a road network, and unifying the monitoring cameras in the same geographic space; then, on the basis of a vehicle detection, identification and tracking method, acquiring information such as a license plate, a vehicle type and a space-time track of the vehicle; judging whether the vehicle has violation behaviors such as overspeed, low speed, parking and the like in the vision field of the monitoring camera or not; and finally, matching the same vehicle in the adjacent monitoring cameras, and deducing whether violation behaviors such as overspeed, low speed/parking and the like exist between the vision fields or not. Accordingto the invention, the detection of violation behaviors is realized only by using the existing monitoring camera, and various violation behaviors such as overspeed, low speed and parking of the vehiclecan be detected; more importantly, the driving behavior of the vehicle between the vision fields of the monitoring cameras can be calculated, and the overspeed, low-speed/parking behaviors of the vehicle can be detected.
