The invention relates to a road traffic control system, more specifically a traffic light forecast system based on DSRC and a GPS. The traffic light forecast system comprises a signal controller, a road side unit and an on-board device. The signal controller is internally provided with a signal control system, and sends data to the road side unit through the wired or wireless link technology; the road side unit comprises a single-chip microcomputer and a wireless data transmission module, wherein the wireless data transmission module is used for receiving the data transmitted by the signal controller, and sending the data to the on-board device; the on-board device comprises a single-chip microcomputer, a GPS module, a DSRC wireless data receiving module, a distance calculation and prediction module, and a display output module, wherein the GPS module positions an automobile position; the DSRC wireless data receiving module is used for receiving the data transmitted by the road side unit; the distance calculation and prediction module is used for analyzing and processing the data; the display output module is used for displaying a predicted result in real time. The traffic light forecast system can help a driver to predict traffic lights in advance, and provide a recommended speed so that the driver can go through an intersection in a green light state.
