The invention discloses a portal crane capable of preventing radiant heat. The portal crane comprises a steel wire rope, a winding drum connected with the lower end of the steel wire rope, a crown block lifting ring connected with the winding drum, a lifting beam, a plate hook connected with the top of the lifting beam, a radiant heat protective layer arranged on the top face of the lifting beam, and a crane lifting ring connected with the lower end of the lifting beam. The two ends of the radiant heat protective layer are flush with the two ends of the lifting beam. The two sides of the radiant heat protective layer are 480-520 mm longer than the side edge of the lifting beam, and the thickness of the radiant heat protective layer is 30-40 mm. A through hole is formed in the position, corresponding to the plate hook, in the middle of the radiant heat protective layer and allows the plate hook to penetrate therein. According to the portal crane capable of preventing radiant heat, heat damage caused by radiant heat of a lifted casting ladle on the portal crane is effectively prevented, the surface temperature of key components is lower than the temperature at which the cold brittleness phenomenon occurs on metal materials, and the portal crane is safe and reliable. The invention further discloses a heat insulation protective method for the portal crane.
