The invention is suitable for the field of ships, and provides a rudder. The rudder comprises a sealed steering engine room, a steering engine, a sealed water cutter rudder, a pod, a variable frequency driver, a connecting component, a motor and a propeller. The steering engine is accommodated in the steering engine room. The water cutter rudder and the pod are both positioned below water, and are manufactured by heat conducting materials. The variable frequency driver is accommodated in the water cutter rudder, and is thermally coupled with the water cutter rudder. The connecting component comprises a water cutter rudder connecting rod. One end of the water cutter rudder connecting rod extends into the steering engine room to be connected with the steering engine, and the other end extends into the water cutter rudder to be connected with the variable frequency driver. The pod is fixedly connected with the water cutter rudder. The motor is accommodated in the pod, and is thermally coupled with the pod. The motor is connected with the propeller outside the pod through a shaft sleeve, and drives the propeller to rotate. The rudder needs no additional water cooling system, and effectively reduces the production cost, the design difficulty and the power consumption.
