The invention discloses a GPS (Global Positioning System)-based hybrid power vehicle control method, and belongs to the field of hybrid power vehicles. A road spectrum of a line to be run is acquired, and meanwhile road length, road slope, length of each section of slope and start point and end point positions of each section of slope int he road spectrum are acquired; constant positioning of a vehicle is realized by using a GPS system; when the vehicle runs at a set line, the vehicle controller is used for controlling turn-on and turn-off of a vehicle engine and a motor and closing and opening of a clutch according to the road spectrum of the run line, the position of the vehicle and the run direction of the vehicle. The GPS system is combined with a road condition, and the energy of a battery is rationally utilized, so the electric energy use efficiency of the vehicle is greatly improved, the regenerative brake recovery rate of the power battery of the vehicle is improved, the purpose of the highest comprehensive efficiency of a vehicle power system is realized, and the control requirement on the highest energy saving rate of the vehicle is met.
