Our invention "IUIT- Traffic Control Alert: is a computer-implemented method and system for vehicular traffic control and vehicle routing includes receiving a request for a best route, at a central system. The invention also includes a current location and a destination from a requesting vehicle and travel factors from the current location to the destination are determined. The invention also includes a travel factors road availability, traffic conditions, and real time feedback, using the central system in response to receiving the request and the best route is determined for the requesting vehicle from the current location to the destination based on the travel factors, and real time feedback of the traffic conditions. The invented method and system includes initiating a plurality of traffic control actions along the route for the requesting vehicle and the traffic control actions are initiated along the route simultaneously and in concert with the requesting vehicle to clear the best route for the requesting vehicle to travel unobstructed to the destination. The invention is a vehicle information system which includes an in-vehicle system and a centralized server systemprestored and the in-vehicle system communicates with the server system using a wireless communication link such as over a cellular telephone system. The invention is a position system, such as a set of GPS satellites provides positioning signals that are used by the in-vehicle systems, and optionally by the centralized server system to increase the accuracy of position estimates and in one version of the system, an operator specifies a destination to an in-vehicle system which validates the destination. The invention also includes in a vehicle system transmits specification of the destination to a server system 125 at the centralized server and the server system computes a route to the destination and transmits the computed route to the in-vehicle system. The invented technology is an in-vehicle system guides the operator along the route and an if the in-vehicle system detects that the vehicle has deviated from the planned route, it replans a new route to the destination using an in-vehicle map database.
