AbstractSome specific features of the large-scale magnetic reconnection in large solar flares are briefly reviewed. In particular, the large-scale structure and dynamics of the 3B/X5.7 flare on 14 July 2000 are interpreted in terms of the topological model. The role of the betatron effect in collapsing magnetic traps, that are created by reconnection in the solar corona, is considered. We discuss some possibilities to observe the collapsing trap acceleration in solar flares.
