Selection and design considerations of components for high performance turbopumps for aircraft or rocket engine applications; following conclusions reached: takeoff weight of rockets and missiles is directly effected by turbopump efficiency and required suction specific speed; turbine selection is governed by weight and efficiency; aircraft turbopumps are capable of operation at much higher speeds due to their shorter operating life.
