As result of experiments extending from 1920 to 1925, and conducted by German Post Office Research Section and Telefunken Co. and others, data have been obtained by which duplex telephony between ships at sea and public telephone system has become possible; shows arrangement as applied to S.S. Columbus; on land transmitter plant is placed so far away as not to influence its own receiving equipment; arrangement for telephony to moving trains is similar to marine installation, except that antenna on train is adjacent to telegraph wire along line used for connecting radio-frequency currents to apparatus at telephone exchange. See translated abstract in Sci. Abstracts (Section B), vol. 29, no. 345, Sept. 25, 1926, p. 433.
