Theory for vibration of built-up shell structures with particular emphasis on ship and submarine hulls; structure is divided into series of flat plate elements; energy of stretching, shearing, bending, and twisting of these elements is written relative to set of fixed axes; Lagrangian approach is then employed to obtain frequencies and mode shapes of structure; complete stiffness coefficients are given.
