New type of switching area crossing control developed by Servo Corp of America is recommended where train speeds range from 2 to 25 mph; system was installed in Madison, Wis at West Washington and West Main Streets; control action is initiated and timed when train is moving in direction of crossing; system provides considerable flexibility in its application because of building block design; basic blocks are transducers, directional sensing units, directional analyzers, and downtime monitors; tests indicated that equipment is reliable at speeds up to 80 mph.
