Results derived from field trafficability studies are described and technique for estimating performance of tracked vehicles in muskeg is presented, based on data collected; studies are part of overall trafficability research program conducted by U S Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES); test areas in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, and Fort Wainwright, Alaska, test vehicles, and test procedures are described; analysis of data and formulation of empirical expression for estimating tracked vehicle performance that should aid researchers in selection of muskeg areas for field investigations as well as assist in military and commercial operations.
